Insignia: 101st Airborne
US Army 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles " insignia. Originally organized in 1918 and demobilized 6 weeks later. Reconstituted in 1921 in the Organized Reserves and that is when Screaming Eagles became associated with the division as the successor to the traditions of the Wisconsin volunteer regiments in the Civil War. The reserve division was disbanded in 1942 and reorganized as the 101st Airborne Division of the regular army at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. The 101st went on to lead the D-Day invasion of Europe and has been active ever since.
