McCarty's Letter to Gov Perry endorsing Nethery for SRA Board

Governor Rick Perry
Office of the Governor
PO Box 12428
Austin, TX 78711-2428

June 17, 2006

Dear Governor Perry,

I urge you to appoint Mr. Gene Nethery from Sabine County as the next appointed board member of the Texas Sabine River Authority. It has been more than ten years since Sabine County had representation on the Texas SRA board. Currently, of the nine board members only Mr. Dance from Center, Texas lives even in the vicinity of Toledo Bend Lake.

Mr. Nethery is very qualified, having completed thirty-eight years of employment with Brown & Root, with more than twenty years in management. He was made a corporate officer in 1985. Since his retirement, Mr. Nethery has been very active in regional and local affairs. He was President of Deep East Texas Development Association in 2002, which has now become Pineywoods Economic Partnership. He is Past President of the Pineland Service Club and the Sabine Area Career Center. Mr. Nethery has served as a Sabine County Commissioner and has been President of the Sons of the Republic of Texas for many years. He served on the Sabine County Hospital Board and is a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Bethany Baptist Church in Milam, Texas.

As we have no voting power for these people whose decisions frequently impact our safety, economic development and daily lives, we request the power of your office to appoint a well qualified person better able to represent business’s and individuals of the Toledo Bend area.

Respectfully

Bill & Carol McCarty
Rt. 1 Box 514
Burkeville, TX 75932
