Board Meeting
August 18, 2009
The meeting was called to order by Janna Lehman.
Those present were Maurice Patterson, Stan Verret, Cliff Hunt, Steve McMahon, Bill McCarty, Betty Elliott, Janna and Jerry Lehman.
Order of business:
# The Board of Directors made a recommendation that Betty Elliott be appointed
Secretary.
# A membership brochure for Bi-State Alliance was discussed. It was suggested that it be used as a general guideline to promote our club membership by showing the general guidelines of what the club stands for and a short paragraph stating the penalty of transporting Salvinia. Topics would include information about the club,numbers to call, and website. Dick Wood told Janna that the brochure format could be set up for the cost of $95, if the club would provide the topics. It would be trifold and in full color. The cost for 10,000 brochures would be $895. The Board approved this promotion for the club with none opposed.
# Expo Deer Fest is scheduled for September 26th and 27th. Booth rental cost is $35. Before Sept. 1st and $45. after September 1st. It was recommended and agreed upon to reserve a booth for $35. In case our brochures are ready. If they are not ready by that time, we may decide not to have the booth. Cliff Hunt and Stan Verret volunteered to set up a work schedule with time slots.
# It is time to make a donation to the library for the use of the facilities. Maurice Patterson abstained from voting since he is on the Library Board. Bill McCarty made a motion that the club make a donation in lieu of $300. Stan Verett seconded the motion. That amount was approved with none opposed.
# The Louisiana SRA went above and beyond with providing us with weevils to
combat the Giant Salvinia. There were others that helped distribute them. Since
we can't pay them, Janna suggested that we have a Thank You Party. She has
checked with Plantation Restaurant about a buffet style dinner on a Monday and
they agreed to do that. The Board tentatively set the date as September 21st,
contingent on the restaurant. Janna will get back to us on final plans.
# Janna suggested that a newsletter go out to all the members to inform them of what is going on. The Board agreed. Janna will be getting that out to everyone.
With no further business, the meeting was closed.
