Minutes November 28, 2005
The meeting was called to order by Don Driscoll, Texas Co-Chairman.
The opening prayer was given by Don Driscoll.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was lead by Don Driscoll.
Minutes of the October 24, 2005 TBBSA Meeting were approved as presented.
Janna Lehman, Treasurer, was not present, but sent word the balance remains $1785.22.
Old Business:
East Texas Region I Planning Committee: Bill Huegel, representative was not present.
Lake Level Issues: A draft of a letter, written by Don Driscoll to the local newspaper concerning current Lake Level Issues, was read to the members and visitors by Don. He invited members to make comments, additions or corrections to the letter prior to being submitted.
LA-SRA Law Suit: For the benefit of visitors and members, Larry Kelly explained what the Law Suit was about and the issues and goals of TBBSA. Larry said a hearing has been scheduled in Shreveport for some time in January to go over an agreement or compromise to a solution.
New Business:
Letter of Solicitation: Bill McCarty reported the Toledo Bend Community Club voted at their November 10th meeting to have a petition presented to TBBSA to write a letter of solicitation asking for funds from our membership as well as the communities in the counties and parishes bordering Toledo Bend, in order to hire a lawyer to intervene in that law suit. Discussion followed. Richard Barnett, Republican Candidate for Sabine County Judge, as a visitor to the meeting, was asked to comment on our issues. Larry gave him the history and background on the Lake Level Legislation and our goals, and where we stand at this time. John Crisp moved that a letter of solicitation be written and signed by the two co-chairmen of TBBSA. Motion was seconded by Harry Johnson. More discussion followed. Motion was approved by the membership. John will follow up with Don on the letter. Don commented on the value of the lake to properties in the area, as well as to businesses around the lake involved in supporting tourism. Don thanked our visitor and members for coming to our meeting.
