Toledo Bend Bi-State Alliance Minutes November 24, 2003
The meeting was called to order by Larry Kelly.
J. B. Meyers led the group in the opening prayer.
There were 20 members in attendance. Since we had a guest speaker, we delayed our meeting until later.
Our guest Speaker was Mr. Todd Driscoll from Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. He presented a summary of the Annual Management Report. Some of the important points were:
· Creel Surveys have moved away from the boat ramps and out on the lake to be more accurate. · In the 2nd or 3rd year of life at Toledo Bend the bass achieve the 14” min. legal limit. · They are currently stocking in Housen Bay only, 500,000 – 1,000,000 per year of the 3” size · The creel data for catfish is for rod & reel only, no trotlines or jugs. · Randy Helton has retired. Howard Elders is his replacement. · Texas & Louisiana still differ on the Crappie & Catfish regulations.
Old Business: DETDA Report: Charles English, DETDA representative, resigned. East Texas Regional Water Planning Committee Report: Bill Huegel, representative, Reported that Mr. Pittman gave a presentation of CDT’s new desalination technique for brackish water.
New Business: Larry Kelly Today’s SRA of Texas Meeting was mostly executive session. New Governor in Louisiana is Ms. Blanco, Joe Salter is the new Speaker of the House. Linda Mauer has resigned as Co-Chairman of Texas No Meeting in December.
