Meeting Minutes October 22, 2001
Larry Kelly opened the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented on the Internet.
The treasurer reported the balance of $2161.45. Ten organizations and 8 individuals have paid the membership fees for 2001. Fee notices will be sent out to those who have not paid yet. A motion was made seconded and passed to approve the Treasurers report.
DETDA Report The environmentalists have attacked a plan to raise Steinhagen 7 to 10 ft and to raise Rayburn by 1 ft. to accommodate floodwaters. The Trinity River Authority is investigating the implementation of a power plant below Lake Livingston.
Region I Water Planning No report. There was no meeting held.
A discussion concerning the Sabine County Water District plan was held.
SRA Law Suit Update The Judge ruled as a matter of law that the SRAs had taken the property of the landowners without their permission and a jury assessed damages of $1.225M. The SRA plans to appeal the ruling.
The Collaborative Effort The effort seems to be progressing. The next meeting will be 13 November 2001.
Deer Fest Flyers for the Deer Fest have been prepared. A discussion of bumper stickers was conducted. It appeared that the cost for bumper stickers was too high. It was finally decided that electrostatic window stickers would be prepared and offered for sale to the members. Linda Maurer of Hillside Marina will have a space at the Deer Fest and she has offered to have the TBBSA occupy the space with her.
A motion was made seconded and passed to have 1000 electrostatic window stickers prepared at a cost of approximately $550. The size will be 4 inches by 11 inches. It is anticipated that it will take about 1 month to procure the stickers.
The graphs of the lake performance were presented. They will be available at the deer fest booth.
A nomination committee was appointed for the 2002 elections. The committee consisted of Charles English and Janna Lehman.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 26, 2001.
