Newton County emphasizes eco-tourism and nature tourism. Newton County's pine forests, wetlands and Toledo Bend Reservoir are hosts to an abundance of wildlife such as whitetail deer, wild turkey, ducks, squirrel, largemouth bass, alligator, and over 250 species of birds. Wildflowers such as the silky camellia, scarlet catchfly, pitcher plant, and wild azalea are unique to the area.
