Message: The temperature is blistering cold. Unstable water levels has made for some areas of unstable ice on the lakes in illinois. ice fishing is good only for sun fish, warmouths, and a few small crappie can be caught.

Message: If we get a lot of rain in late Feb/early March, the SRA will in fact drain it down to 168 again. They could care less about the spawn.

Message: YOU SHOULDN'T HATE THEM AT THE DAM JEFF.
IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE DAM WE WOULD NOT HAVE THIS LAKE TO FISH IN.
AT 186 THEY WILL STOP PULLING WATER AND WE WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WATER LEVELS DROPPING DURING THE SPAWN.
YOU CAN MAKE GOOD USE OF THIS TIME TO FIND STRUCTURE YOU COULD NOT SEE BEFORE AND THEN COME BACK AND FISH IT WHEN THE WATER COMES BACK UP.
KEEPING A POSSITIVE MIND SET WILL HELP YOU CATCH MORE FISH NEXT TIME YOU COME BACK.

HOPE THIS HELPS

JOE

Message: Had a good day of fishing on the 23rd.I Fished down south. Most of my fish were suspended out over deep water chasing shad. Fish would hit the surface one or two at time. I caught several 2.5 to 3.25lb bass and lost something huge that ate a trap in 19 ft off the bottom. It pulled off at the boat.
Best baits were Lucky Craft LV 7 in american shad, and a Flat SR crankbait in american shad also. I also caught a couple on a Lucky Craft Pointer DD78 in american shad.
The bite did slow down when the wind picked up.
