Message: Fishing Alpine area, Nov 8-12. Lots of buck bass on spooks, slow walk then stop. Most times the lure would just disappear. Few better fish on nude spinnerbait. Largest, 6.5 lb on green jig with pumpkinseed baby brush hog trail, 10 ft off of long grassy shelf. Wanted to see if it would pick up after the front but fishing in 35 deg with 15 mph north wind is not for me.

Message: Big slab crappie in the creeks. 2-2 1/2 pounders everywhere. Took mine from one brushpile 4 days in a row. Had easy limits each day in about an hour or so. Best bite early. Used Bobby Garland jigs (monkey milk). Bass were hard to come by.

Message: Fished the past three days on south end of the lake. Fished mostly outside edges of grass. Caught most of our fish in places where grass was a bit more scattered in 10 to 15 feet. Bite was better in the afternoon. Caught all our fish on green pumpkin and watermelon red trick worms texas rigged. No luck on top water early or late but fished right behind the cold front.

Message: Fall trip to the Bend very successful. Group of 7 boats had over a 100 keepers taking mostly on ribbit frogs, buzzbaits, crankbaits and topwater. SOuth to Six Mile and North to Patroon. Fish the grass lines with buzzbaits and ribbits. Better bite in the evening but still some quality action in the morning. No grass no bass also look for the shad.

Message: Fished Alpine area of Toledo the last 9 days. Concentrated on my main fetish, topwater, about 90%. Didn't catch a lot, but enough to stay interested, most about 1.5 to 2 pounds. Some great blowups, which is why I do it. 3 inch clear spook, slow walk, was most productive. Few frog hits in the moss, which is starting to die out. Did throw some weightless worms along edge of moss in 6-12 ft. Lots of baby bass. Temps in mid-high 40's last few sunups. North wind making jacket necessary. Great weather and getting better. FYI...experimented, and found that replacing the rear hook with a feathered hook increased my strikes by about, oh, let's just say a bunch. They were probably hitting the feather, but they still got hooked. White feather worked better than red.

Have tried everything else all in depths from 5 to 20ft, all hits 5-15ft. Moon is waning now storms moving in. The only up to date reports from guides is Joe others left town. I live here & I will find them one way or another. Happy Trails

Message: At Toledo, Alpine area, from Sep 10-24. Caught 7.6 on frog from dock 9/12, thought it was setting the tone for the trip. No deal. I think the bass in my creek have seen it all this summer, and remembered most of it. While I wasn't fishing hard, I was out there, keepers were scarce. Schools were plentiful, but picky. Few reaction fish on rat-l-trap, to 3 lbs. Dinks on topwater. Weather alternates between absolutely perfect to too windy to fish. Water temp cooling slowly. Water level dropping slow, but in great shape. Better than being at work...theres no fish there either.
