Anglers Choice East TX Team Series -2000-
Sunday, February 27, 2000, Twin Dikes Marina, Lake Sam Rayburn, TX.

With the previous days storm driven rains and water spout sitings moving off east, the 144 anglers, who teamed up to fish the E/TX circuit of the Anglers Choice trail, were to fish & compete under the high pressure conditions of hard blue-bird sunshine to catch their weigh-in. One angler reported catching close to 100 bass today while another reported seeing at least that many but only managed to catch 6 of them. "But" they were the right six bass as his "pink" bubble gum pattern of site fishing bedding bass put the 1st place win in his creel.

"This is one of our team series bass tournament circuits, stated S/E Texas Director, Randy Knight, as he explained the year/2000 format of the Anglers Choice tournament circuits, which now involves bass fishing tournament formats for Pro/Am events, Team circuits, Amateur Team circuits, and Couples circuits, with year end Championships for all of the different circuits. "As we now have tournament circuits operating in Washington State, Utah, California, Colorado, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, stated Randy, adding that they also have circuits operating in Deleware, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Florida, S. Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona, "you can see that we have gone "National" with banners for six tournament divisions. "We are a very strong, and proud, tournament organization, Randy explained, pointing out that Anglers Choice has now been in tournament operations for over 12 years which now offers a year/2000 tournament payout package of over $5 MILLION in cash & prizes. Tournament coverage for all these circuits, which represent 28 states, advised Randy, can now be seen and enjoyed by millions of interested viewers by reading our Anglers Choice Magazine, or by watching the video productions of FOX-29 Television, or by clicking to the popular <www.fishingworld.com> or <www.outdooraction.com> web-media groups which posts our tournament results on their outdoor web-sites. "Our Anglers Choice Tournament circuits are really on a big roll now, Randy grinned, as he moved to weigh the first incoming bass-bags of his East TX team circuit.

(1st-5 bass/20.98 lbs)-Scott David of Goodrich TX, and Gene Swann of Onalaska TX, managed to run their BassCat/Mercury up to northlake creek-edges while fishing Allstar/Falcon and Ambassadeur/Shimano reels spooled with 15# Berkley BG & P-Line. "We ran the creek-channel edges while working 1/4 oz black/blue Hawg Craw jigs w/Larew craws along outside timber or flipping "pink" bubble-gum Larew craws to spawning bass which were on beds, stated Scott David, as he explained of how they switched back and forth from the timber to bedding fish. "You could tell from experience which bedding bass to cast to and which not to try for, Scott enlightened with a knowing grin as he, and his partner, Gene Swann, stepped up to collect their 1st place check of $1,860-

(2nd-5 bass/20.82 lbs)-Mike Metcalf of Center TX, and Zac Tuttle of Nacogdoches TX, found their 2nd place catch while working Norman Cranks, Stanley jigs, and Lake Fork Tackle baits along 4' to 8' southlake grass-clumps. "I caught my 9.04 lb "kicker" on a 1/2 oz black/blue/amber Stanley jig, answered Mike as he informed of catching the "overall big bass" from a 10:am bite which helped to give them the 2nd place check for $930 -plus- the "overall" big bass check for $430.

(3rd-5 bass/20.00 lbs)-Slade Dearman of Onalaska TX, found his fish "up-lake" today as he worked the Canyon's and Black Forest areas which had sand-ledges and grass-clumps. "I must've caught close to 100 bass today, Slade stated, as he informed of working Quantum Energy rods and Browning reels spooled with 15# P-Line while fishing 1/2 oz Strike King Diamond Shads from the deck of his Triton/Johnson bass-rig. Slade managed to catch most of his bigger fish in the Canyon's which were all video-taped by the camera crews for Careco MultiMedia which taped the action packed scenes for upcoming Fox-29 Outdoors, as well as Outdoor Life, and outdooraction.com.
