February 26, 2000 - Hemphill, TX .... The second season for this Angler's Choice Women's Team Circuit was off to a great start this past weekend with all the entrants taking advantage of spawning and pre- spawning patterns and weighing in fish. Toledo Bend lived up to its reputation for large numbers of fish, if not really big fish. The event was held on Feb. 25-26th with two official practice days on Feb. 23-24th

The top five teams boasted five fish limits both days, with the rest of the top ten also doing quite well. There was quite a shake up the second day of the event with the second place team moving up to first and the fourth place team bettering their standings to end up in second place. The last place team moved up to seventh place with the largest stringer of the event weighed in the second day.

With predictions of high winds for both days, the anglers were allowed to trailer to their fishing spots. The rain held off till Saturday, but then it came in waves. The lightning was nice enough to wait till after the anglers were off the water, but the Chamber of Commerce was real happy to see the rain we brought to their drought-stricken area.

Harborlights Campground hosted this event, and the anglers were treated royally not only by those folks, but a large number of spectators who braved the foul weather to come out and support the anglers. With the extra hard work of the staff there, the anglers were treated to a dinner on Thursday evening at registration. Harborlight's owner, Linda Walker, and M.J.'s Bar-B-Que made a wonderful spread for the anglers. Charleen Mahaffey went to a number of area merchants and was able to put together an impressive array of prizes for the anglers to be given away at the weigh-in. Charleen and Liz Cochran both of Hemphill participated in this event.

The first place stringer was caught by Sherrie Brubaker, Warner, OK and Sheri Glasgow, Muskogee, OK with a total for the 2 days of 25.90 lbs. Second place went to Liz Lewis and Peggy Pilgrim, both of Jasper, TX with 22.87 lbs. This team also brought in the Big Bass of the event weighing in at 4.24 lbs. Third place team was Lynette Branch, Berclair, TX and Jennifer Lesperance, Sulphur, LA with 22.64 lbs. Fourth place was held by Joan Craig, Russellville, AR and Katherine Stuart, Conway, AR with 19.35 lbs. Rounding out the top five was Jan Hudson, Harrison, AR and Secret York, Benton, KY with 18.07 lbs.

The final standings in the top ten are as follows:
6th Place- Laura Moore, Vidor, TX --16.69 lbs.
7th Place- Cindy Farrell, Ft. Smith, AR and Chione Jackson, Many, LA--16.58 lbs.
8th Place- Carolyn Brewster, Buna, TX and Pat Reid, Brookeland, TX - 15.87 lbs.
9th Place- Jan Jones, N. Little Rock, AR and Rhonda Usery, Sherwood, AR - 15.66 lbs.
