By Ed Snyder

16TH ANNUAL McDonald's BIG BASS SPLASH -- APRIL 14-15-16

Sunday, April 16, 2000, Twin Dikes Marina, Lake Sam Rayburn, TX.

"Twenty Million Dollars has been paid out so far to our McBass anglers since we started over 16 years ago, informed CEO/Director, Bob Sealy, "and we've also managed to raise over 2 & 1/2 Million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities through the donations of our McSplash anglers, "for without these fine anglers, Sealy praised, "we wouldn't have been able to do what we do. "Thirty two states are represented here today, Sealy advised, "arriving from distant places such as Alaska, Georgia, Washington State, Illinois, New Hampshire, California, Indiana, and Florida, just to name a few, which also includes the countries of Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

McSplash ReCap;

Day-1-Lynn Shivers of Kirbeyville TX, managed to catch a 9.57 lb first day McLead while fishing Carolina rigged junebug trick-worms along 5' inside grasslines up in the Northlake area, and Bill Moser of Shreveport LA, nailed his 8.37 lb 2nd place leading bass while fishing a Zoom watermelon Wacky worm along a Needmore Point 10' grass-edge. The exact weight boats for day one's 3.0-4.0-5.0- were awarded.

Day-2-Darryl Boulet of Newton TX, weighed-in a 10.02 lb lunker caught from a Coleman Bay while working a 3/8 oz Texas craw Bootlegger jig with a black Zoom pork trailer along an 11' timber point edge. The 3.0-5.0- exact weight Triton/Boat bass were awarded with the un-caught 4.0 exact weight Triton set aside for the final day awards drawing.

Day-3- With Summer-like weather replacing the previous cool of early Spring, the final moments of the 16th Annual McBass began to heat up as the day-long activity would see a Warren TX, angler nail the T-shirt hour with an 8.65 lb lunker, and witness another angler, Rick Schaeffer of FT Worth TX, "miss out" on the T-shirt bonus by coming in too late with his 9.42 lb "hawg". The day would also witness a "record" flow of incoming bass which heavily bracketed the exact weight 3.00. 4.00, & 5.00 lb Triton Bass boat awards, but didn't connect until Roger Courtney of Crystal Springs TX, locked-in an exact weight 5.00 lb bass during the final moments of the final weigh-in hour.The crowd would also witness young lady angler "up-stage" Bob Sealy being the youngest "registered" Adult division angler who managed to catch a 6.43 lb bass to place in the money, as 9 year old Megan Hilldebrandt, of Sam Rayburn TX, "wowed" the crowd with her exceptional bass fishing talent.

"Dedicated to the spirit and inspiration of peace and goodwill, Bob Sealy began to announce, "we, of Sealy Outdoors, are proud to announce our sponsorship and support for the "Circle Of Peace" statue which will be placed in Jasper TX. "This is what America is all about, Sealy pointed out as a miniature scale statue was displayed showing a bronzed circle of children holding hands, "we are of one race, one people, and of one mind, "PEACE".

"Twenty one thousand dollars is the donation from this tournament event, Bob Sealy announced, "which will be added to the two and one/half million dollars that we've raised so far for the RMH Charities."Now, remember this folks, Bob Sealy broadcasted live to the hundreds of thousands who were watching FOX-29 Sports, "April 20, 21, & 22, of the year 2001 is the date set for the 17th Annual Rayburn McDonalds Big Bass Splash, and with that important tid-bit of information tucked into the memory cells of those who were waiting for the final boat draw, Sealy then pulled the winning ticket for the Bennington Pontoon Boat,.. and... as Ellis Jones of San Augustine TX, came forward to claim his $10,000 prize, the 16th Annual McBass quickly splashed into Big Bass History.
