Sunday, May 7, 2000, Cypress Bend Resort, Lake Toledo Bend, LA.

With Summer "simmering-in" with near 90 degree temps, and with Toledo's bass on post-spawn patterns, the winning bass-techs for today's tournament would deal mostly with those anglers who could "finesse" their bass-bites from the rising waters of previous flash-flooding rains which were spilling into the lake. But it would be the strong southerly winds that proved to be the undoing most anglers, as one team managed to sum up their day of "wind-fishing" with "we were Carolina rigging and hangin' on for dear-life!!!!!!

"This is the 5th team/bass event for our East Texas Circuit 2000 tournament season, explained Bass-N-Bucks CEO/Director, David Concienne, "which is part of the $375,000 "guarantee" that is paying out $40,000 per tournament event with a fully rigged Skeeter/Yamaha-150 bass boat awarded to our 1st place team winners -per- tournament event. "We also pay out Big Bass money for the top 3 "overall" big bass per tournament which awards $1,000 for 1st, $500 for 2nd, and $250 for 3rd. "Bonus Money" is also provided by our Sponsor, Skeeter/Yamaha, David further advised, stating that "all" Skeeter/Yamaha owners qualify for the bonus money packages which pays out "big cash" awards for 1st place winners who will also qualify for the "Skeeter Tour Championship" as well as the Bass-N-Bucks Championship.

(1st-5 bass/17.80 lbs)- Rodger Hudnail and Shane Hamilton of Denham Springs LA, put their Skeeter/Yamaha to Northlake areas above Converse where they flipped 3/4 oz camo Oldham Jigs with pumpkin/green Larew Craws. "We fished with Falcon rods and Shimano reels spooled with 50# SpiderWire, stated the Baton Rouge LA, Greenwell Marine Team, "as they told of working brush & timber for a 7 bass catch that would cull to their 1st place 5 bass/17.80 lb win. The #1 team won a fully rigged SX186 Skeeter/Yamaha-150 as well as $1,500 in Skeeter bonus money and another $1,000 cash for Shanes 11:am big bite which put a 5.54 lb "overall" in their well. "I told my partner that we only had one spot to catch our fish in today, stated Hudnail, "and if that spot produced, we'd win, but if it didn't, we'd come in dead last.

(2nd-5 bass/17.07 lbs)- Kevin Weems and David Ozio of Beaumont TX, managed to put a 2nd place finish in their Skeeter/Yamaha while working Castaway rods and Shimano reels spooled with 16# Triple-Fish line. The Beaumont team fished Six Mile area inside & outside 7' to 14' grass-lines with Carolina rigged watermelon Zoom flukes, centipedes, and perch colored Norman DD-14's, where they caught 14 bass between a 10:am to 1:pm bite for their 2nd place catch of 5 bass/17.07 lbs and a $2,600 payday.

(3rd-5 bass/15.48 lbs-)- "Northlake point drop-offs to 6', stated Mike Metcalf of Center TX, and Zack Tuttle of Nacogdoches TX, as they told of fishing Norman shad pattern DD-22's and Carolina rigged lizards for a mid-day bite of 7 bass that culled to their 5 bass/15.48 lb 3rd place finish and a check for $1,600 -plus- a 5.42 lb 3rd place big bass bite for $250.
