Wal-Mart Celebrates National Fishing Week
By Ed Snyder

Wal*Mart "Take A Kid Fishing Day"
Saturday, June 10, 2000, Wal*Mart Super Center, Jasper, TX.

Much like most Wal*Mart stores located throughout the country, the Wal*Mart Super Center in Jasper TX, celebrated the National Fishing Week by holding a special "Take A Kid Fishing Day" which involved an outdoors fishing seminar being held "indoors" with a kids casting contest, where, after the aisle betwixt the sewing, auto, shoes, and sporting goods departments was cleared to provide a casting range, passing shoppers were kept "very busy" ducking and dodging some of their "miss-guided" casting efforts..

This is "FUN" explained assistant Wal*Mart manager, Mark Graham, who was kept busy with the long line of children who were arriving to learn everything from knot tying, to casting, pitching, flipping, and speed reeling techniques. "Last year we held our event outdoors, the Mark continued, "but due to "stormy" weather conditions we decided to hold this event inside for the safety and convenience of those who came in today to help us celebrate the National Fishing Week.

With the days fun activities being broadcasted live by Ranch Radio fm/102.7, and with fishing industry celebrities, such as Bob Sealy of McDonalds Big Bass Splash coming by to help, children of all ages were treated to some fun-time activities where they won prizes and fishing tackle which were donated for this event.

"Everyone went home a winner today, smiled Ken Bohnert, of Wal*Mart's Sporting Goods department, further explaining that all of the children who came by today went home with goody bags filled with some really nice fishing stuff that was donated by Southbend, Berkley, Zebco, Tom Mann, PRADCO, Bill Lewis Lures, Maurice Sporting Goods, JADICO, Yamamoto Baits, Sealy Outdoors, and Wal*Mart.
