By Ed Snyder

Bass-N-Bucks East Texas Team Circuit
July 16, 2000, Cypress Bend Resort, Lake Toledo Bend, LA.

"We broke three "BIG" bass off on our first three casts, informed the North Toledo team who had just weighed-in a 5 bass/22.87 lb catch. "But, after losing those first three fish we finally settled down and began taking our time with the bites, which would include an 8.56 lb "kicker". The team was fishing their final East Texas Bass-N-Bucks Team tourney of the year that drew an average participation of 201 team entries per event for the tournament season.......... "Incredible"

"This is our 7th and final team event for our 2000 tournament season, stated Bass-N-Bucks CEO/Director, David Concienne, "and I would like to take this time to "THANK" each and everyone of those anglers who chose to fish the Bass-N-Bucks circuit this year as each and everyone of them helped to make this circuit such a great success. "We've had an average of 201 teams fish our events this year which peaked at 290 teams, making Bass-N-Bucks one of the top team draw circuits for the year/2000. "On behalf of myself, my wife Trish, and the entire Bass-N-Bucks Tournament crew, "we wish to thank all who participated as we plan to make several more "positive" changes next year to help keep our team circuit as your #1 choice.

"Our Bass-N-Bucks Team Championship this year will be held on September 21 -thru-24 at Waterwood Marina on Lake Livingston, TX, which offers a "Guaranteed"
Championship payout of $85,000.

With oppressive triple-digit heat producing extreme triple-digit heat indexes, the 149 teams launched for their final tournament out of Cypress Bend Resort, located on the Louisiana side of Lake Toledo Bend. Light s/e winds and "heavy" humidity would mark the anglers for this, their final Bass-N-Bucks event of the 2000 tourney season, as they flipped, pitched, and dragged their bassin' patterns to find a 5 bass/limit which would help to catch a winning portion of the $40,000 being offered in cash & prizes. Among those teams who were competing for a winning catch were the brothers team of Tony Weems & Eric Weems who had experienced a catch of a lifetime while pre-fishing for this tournament when Eric Weems caught a 15.32 lb bass on a Cyclone "Hydrilla" jig that re-set Toledo Bend's largemouth bass record, which also up-graded Big "T" as a top-50 Lunker Bass lake.

1st place team-(5 bass/22.87 lbs)- "FIRST, we'd like to give a "special" thanks to Randy Williford of Alexandria, LA, stated Team Port-A Cool, as they explained how Randy had stepped aside to allow them to fish their winning hole. "Champion/Yamaha took us to our north-lake ridges, answered Phil Hennigan and Bobby Barreraz of Center, TX, as they informed of fishing Castaway rods and Ambassadeur reels spooled with 15# Berkley Big Game mono. "We worked 10" Carolina rigged Riverside tequila worms and crawfish Mud-bugs, they stated as they told of fishing 9' to 10' brushy ridgelines, losing the first three bass on as many casts, but finally settling down to cull up their 22.87 lb catch by 11:am, which included an 8.56 lb "kicker" caught by Phil Hennigan on a Mud-bug. The 1st place team won the keys to a fully rigged $20,000 Skeeter/Yamaha Bass-rig as well as $1,000 for the tournaments "overall" big bass.
