All American Host Wal-Mart Tournaments
By Bill Webb

Mid-May the All American group hosted both the 10th annual Wal-Mart Kids and Adult tournament at Lakeside Marina on beautiful Lake Livingston. Close to 80 youngsters from 3-14 years old tried their luck at bringing in a fish to the bank. With rods in hand each kid received a tackle box, with tackle, a hacky sak and frisbee courtesy the Wal-Mart store. The Onalaska Volunteer Fire department was on hand to prepare bar-b-que and cold drinks for the young anglers. From an observers view these kids had a very memorable time with many fish being caught, thank goodness the catfish were biting well it help them to see a tug on their line. Many smiles very nice to see and the parents loved the outing also.

To win the anglers went through a few series of squalling down pours then bright sunshine with mixed winds varying from light to very heavy to find the 5 fish that would make the heaviest stringer of the day.

8:30 that Saturday morning proved to be the winning time. Albert Orgeron and his partner Dennis Salmasi were in Brushy creek tossing a spinner bait when "wham" the big one hit. After loosing a few good fish Albert finally hit the one kicker that they needed. It was 6.35 lb bass that not only took big bass honers and $290 in cash it also put their total stringer at 15.31 lbs to win the tournament pocketing $1200 for 1st place.

The second place team of Ron Brooks and Morgan Burton brought in a very nice stringer of 13.03 lbs winning $800 in cash. Third place was Randy Hillhouse and Robert Houge with a close 12.97 lbs pocketing a nice $400.
