5 Bass/19.58 Lbs Wins Rayburn Fishers Of Men

Fishers Of Men National Tournament Trail Texas Division:
Saturday, February 17, 2001, Twin Dikes Marina, Lake Sam Rayburn, TX.

Jesus Said; "Follow me and I will make you fishers of Men."Matt.4:19 -"BUT" the Tournament Director saith "Trailering Allowed" Safety call:101, as Ma nature rushed in with blustering northers and ice-capping swells for the first event of the Texas Division for the Fishers of Men Tournament circuit. But even with "chilly" arctic winds and high-pressure blue-birds dominating the bass-bite the Lord still blessed, the 56 Christian teams who fished the event, with some excellent Big Sam offerings.

"We're 27 divisions strong now, explained Texas/CEO, Duck Wright, as he informed of the popularity of the Fishers of Men tournament circuit. "We now have three regional events, -which represent 18 states with a "No Entry Fee" National Championship, Duck advised, "Which will be held on October 26/27, 2001, Lake and area TBA. "So, Come experience the excitement, the thrill, and the "inspiration" of this popular Christian bass tournament circuit, Duck invited as he turned to weigh-in the first offering.

1st-(5 bass/19.58 lbs)- "We threw everything we had at them today, answered the team who had just digitized a first place win with 5 bass/19.58 lbs. Lufkin TX, anglers Clint Teutsch of 1st Methodist and Alan Moore of 1st Christian put their Javelin/Johnson bass-rig over Veach Basin creek channel edges to work Castaway/Allstar rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15 lb test Berkley Big Game mono. "We concentrated on fishing "everything" stated the winning duo, as they informed of working 3/4 oz chartreuse/white Hawg Hustler spinner baits, 1/2 oz red Traps, redbug wacky worms, and crank-baits along 4' to 10' johnson grass edges for catching an all day bite which produced 50 bass, including the 6.92 lb "overall" big bass caught by Clint on a 10:am bite.

2nd-(5 bass/18.03 lbs)- Huntington TX, anglers Randy Hanna of Ozia Missionary Baptist and Lonnie Stanley of 1st Assembly in Lufkin, managed to get their Skeeter/Yamaha to Caney Creek for working Allstar/Fenwick rods and Garcia reels spooled rigged with 1/2 oz Golden Shiner Stanley spinner baits and Carolina rigged watermelon Zoom lizards. "We concentrated on fishing the 6' to 8' point-grass for catching our daylight to 1:pm bite, Lonnie informed as he told of catching at least 18 bass to cull their 5 bass/18.03 2nd place win from.

3rd-(5 bass/17.27 lbs)- Vidor TX, anglers Walt Roberts and Sandy Daniel JR. of Pineforest Baptist put their Skeeter/yamaha bass-rig over northlake drains and bushes to work Castaway rods and reels spooled with 15 lb test Trilene mono. "We fished some areas above the 147 bridge, they informed as they told of working 2' to 8' grass and brush edges with 3/8 oz chartreuse/white MR. Blitz spinner baits. The 3rd place Dawson Marine Team caught 12 bass from an all day bite with prime-time bites at 9:am and 11:am.

(Editors Note: Watch this circuit folks as they aren't "Fire & Brimstone" fanatics but just simple folk who enjoy good, clean, Christian Fellowship activities with family as a "priority". And the Fishers of Men circuit definitely provides just what they want)-
