With 13-year-old Kirbyville JR High student, Ciera Gordan presenting the keys to a fully rigged Triton TR-19 PD bass boat to the winning team anglers, the inaugural event for the Lake Sam Rayburn CAST for kids benefit came to a close. A day long event, which involved on the lake fishing trips for several area disabled and disadvantaged youth, as well as a team bass tournament, helped to raise needed moneys for the support and benefit of the C.A.S.T. for kids foundation.

"The proceeds from this event will benefit and support the fishing programs for disabled and disadvantaged youth, explained C.A.S.T. Director Jim Owens, "Who went on to say that the National Program provides "quality" outdoor recreational opportunities, sport of fishing events, increased awareness of disabled children's capabilities, and provides educational experiences for the children to learn about the great outdoors and our natural resources. "This is our first event for the Sam Rayburn area after being invited here by the Jasper TX, Economic Development Group. "We are making plans right now to return next year with the time and dates for next years C.A.S.T. Foundation benefit event being released to the news media soon.
