Classic Tournament + Classic Show + Classic City = SuperBowl of Bass Fishing
By Ed Snyder

August 2, 3, 4, 2001, BASSMaster Classic, New Orleans, La.

As the World's top BASS anglers were fishing the fertile waters in the Mississippi River Delta of New Orleans LA, the public, who came to watch and cheer their favorite anglers, are being treated to the flash & splash of the Classic Outdoor Show being held at the Morial Convention Center. "We expect to see over 100, 000 fishing fans visit the Classic show this year, stated one BASS official, "as they arrive here from all over the world to watch World Class tournament anglers fish a World Class fishery in a World Class City.

"We are very excited about the 2001 Classic Outdoor Show, "stated Show Director Diehl Unger, "As it is always a great show that attracts anglers and BASS fans from all over the world to see the best in new fishing tackle and sport-fishing gear before anyone else in the country. "And we've made some changes that should make it even better this year."

To make it more convenient for Classic visitors, the Thursday and Friday Classic weigh-in festivities are being held in the Morial Convention Center hall adjacent to the Outdoor Show. "This is to make it easier for the visitors to come and enjoy both exciting events," Unger said, "further stating that the show had more than 150 exhibitions representing every kind of fishing and boating tackle and accessory imaginable, which will be on hand at the convention center to display their products to fishing enthusiasts from across America as well as the world. "Their displays, that required a whopping 200,000 square feet of space in the Morial Center, exhibited both the latest innovations in fishing products and services, as well as some of the olde tymer stuff which drew the attention of lure collectors and nostalgia buffs alike.

The Classic show also provided up front and personal contacts with all of the Classic anglers as well as the Super Stars of the Sport-fishing Industry such as Ray Scott, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, Tommy Biffle, Larry Nixon, Bob Sealy of Sealy Outdoors and Keith Warren of Texas Hunting and Fishing, just to name a few of the many who attended to sign autographs.

"FREE" to the public the show hours were scheduled around the actual Classic weigh-in hours making it more convenient for the attending public and Classic show exhibitors to
enjoy the "both" the outdoor adventures of the Classic Outdoor Show as well as the weigh-in excitement of the 2001 BASSMaster World Classic Championship, which was being taped by ESPN2 for immediate broadcasting throughout the world.
