15.49 lbs Wins the First Angler's Quest Twin Lake Saturday Series

Onalaska, Texas

Beautiful sun shinny day with variable winds brought out 32 teams to fish the first Angler's Quest Twin Lake on Lake Livingston. The water conditions were not quite as clear as the anglers would have liked for them to be, but still with somewhat muddy conditions here were 4 limits still weighed in.Tournament Director Bill Long was very pleased with the turnout for the first round. The angler's came out this day in hopes to capture part of the $1560.00 purse that was to be given away to those who brought in the fish.

The anglers started at 6:50 Saturday with the playing of the national anthem and ended with the weigh in beginning at 3:15 pm. This circuit consist of 20 events which consist of 10 tournaments on Lake Livingston sponsored by Kickapoo Bait and Tackle and 10 on Lake Houston sponsored by Lake Houston Marina.

This circuit promises free entire fees for the 2003 season with the completion of all 20 events in which the anglers must all fish. The championship will be held on November 9-10 which will be held on both lakes.

1st place anglers Scott David and Gene Swann $400.00 ....5 bass 15.94 lbs These anglers from Goodrich and Onalaska, TX positioned their Stealth/Mercury bass rig over midlake all day using Falcon Rods and Shimano Reels spooled with 15 lbs Berkley Big Game to capture their winning fish. Gene Swann stated that they used spinner baits and focused mainly on wood structure in about 4 feet of water in stained color waters.

2nd place anglers Larry Darley and C.W. Belcher $ 280.00 ..... 4 bass 11.75 lbs This duo from Onalaska, TX positioned their Tidecraft/Mercury bass rig mainly on the south end of the lake using Shimano Courstic spooled with 20 lbs Berkley Big Game using mainly spinner baits to capture their winning for the day. Mr. Belcher explained that they concentrated mainly on the south end and caught most of their fish in the morning hours. Larry also captured 2nd big bass of the day weighing 4.28 lbs using a spinner bait in the south end on laydowns. Mr. Darley explained that he caught his fish at 8:00 that morning which put an extra $96.00 in his pocket.

3rd place anglers Chris Wilkerson and Justin Hale $ 200.00 .....5 bass 11.72 lbs

Travis Boating Center Pro Staff team duo positioned their Ranger/Mercury bass rig over north and south lake using Falcon Cara Rods and Shimano Reels spooled with 15 lb Berkley Big Game using black Cyclone tubes and spinner baits to catch their winnings. Chris explained that they concentrated mainly on bushes in 2 to 5 foot of water. This team stated that they caught their fish all throughout the day.

1st Big Bass Tommy Swonk $224.00 5.78 lbs.

This Houston angler explained that this was his only catch of the day,but it landed him the rights for the "big bass of the day" Tommy explained that he was using an electric blue plastic worm in the south end of the lake in about 18 inches of water on shoreline timber

This tournament had a 100% release
