Sunny, 70-degree weather, greeted the 576 anglers who teamed up to fish this $44,000 "Team-Splash" event of the Sealy Outdoors Tournament Series, and as perfect as the weather conditions were, so to the bass-bite as good bass sacks were brought in by the anglers that topped off the leader-board with a 5 bass/20.45 lb $10,000 winning catch.

"We are guaranteeing over $260,000 in cash & prizes for our 2002 "Team-Splash" tournament series this year, CEO/Sealy Outdoors Bob Sealy stated, "with a Rayburn/Toledo $81,000 Triton split-lake Championship for this seasons finale. "Our "Team-Splash" series is paying out a "guaranteed" $44,000 per event, with a $10,000 CASH award for the 1st place finishers. "But, if that isn't enough to attract your attention, Bob noted, "Then come out to play with us in our $MILLION$ dollar Big Bass Splash series on Lake Sam Rayburn, Lake Toledo Bend, and Lake Fork, events. "You don't do freshwater you say, and saltwater fishing is your only thing, "Well, Bob grinned, "we just so happen to have a "Guaranteed" $28,750 "Team Trout Splash" for Galveston Bay! "So, what are you waiting for, Bob invited, "It's time to go fishing folks!

1st place team-( 5 bass/20.45)- Wendell Wright and Bruce Salter of Florien LA, put their Skeeter/Evinrude bass-rig over Housen Bay slough grass to work Kistler rods and Garcia rods spooled with 15 lb Berkley Big Game mono. The winning team put $10,000 in their tackle pack by fishing 8'-10' slough-grass edges with C-rigged watermelon/red Gator-Pups that put a 7.35 lb big bite at 12:15 pm.

2nd place team-( 5 bass/18.97)- Rusty and David Harvey of Nederland TX, put their Broadhead/Mercury bass-rig over south-lake grass to work Kistler rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15 lb test Berkely Big Game mono. The father & son team fished 9/16 oz MR Blitz shad-patterned spinner-baits along 10'-15' grass-edges that put a 6.79 lb big bite in their boat at 11:am for a $4,000 payday.

3rd place-(5 bass/18.04)-Bobby and Joe Ritter of Carthage TX, put their Stealth/Mercury bass-rig over Six Mile grass to work Allstar rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15 lb test Berkely Big Game mono. The father & son team fished ¼ oz perch colored jigs w/white Zoom trailers to catch their early to noon bite for a $3,000 payday.

4th place team-( 5 bass/18.35)- Chris Gunther of Conroe TX, and Mike Michalec of Sugarland TX, put their Triton/Mercury bass-rig over south-lake DEEP-GRASS to work Falcon rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15 lb test Ande line. The 3rd place team fished #9 Shad-Raps along 13'-15' deep-grass edges to catch their bass, which included a 7.24 lb big bite at 9:am for a $2,625 payday.

Overall Big Bass-( 7.91)- Richard Jones and Aubrey Jones of West Monroe LA, put their Xpress/Mercury bass-rig over Tennessee Bay wood to fish Allstar rods and Shimano reels while working a ½ oz black/blue "home-made" jig that put the 7.91 big bite on their line at 2:45 pm for a $1,000 payday.
