WIND AND RAIN DIDN'T STOP THE FISHERS OF MEN
By Duck Wright

Friday, February 8th, was the official practice day for the anglers of the East Texas division of Fishers of Men National Tournament Trails. The day was like most days if March are. Wind was prevalent, the sun was shining and some of the bass on Toledo Bend were biting.
At around 5:30 Friday evening, the anglers started coming in to San Miguel Park, to the pavilion for the registration and fellowship meeting. A very good meal had been prepared by cooks that donated their time and served us some brisket and trimmings, that as we say down here in the South, you would slap your mom to get some more. After a beautiful song of praise by Stacy Lenderman, Rev. Larry Shine gave us a very good example of logically making the right choices for Christ. 21 Professions of Faith were proclaimed.
Saturday morning was a very busy morning. After the weather forecast had been posted Friday night for Saturday, with winds 20-25 miles an hour and constant, the director Duck Wright allowed the fishermen to trailer.
46 teams blasted off from boat ramps all over the lake, only to return to one spot at San Miguel at weigh-in time.
The team of Keith Drewery and Randy Turner came to the scales early at 2:00 with a bag of 5 fish that weighed 15.49 pounds. They had taken all the rough weather they could stand. This weight ended up holding on to the lead and winning them the honors of being the winners of the March Toledo Bend tournament for the East Texas division. David Atwell brought the Big Bass in weighing 5.72 pounds.
