New Record Set at Kickapoo Tournament!!
By Bill Webb

Twenty anglers entered the weekly big bass jackpot series June23 with all hoping to best out the next angler.
Some of the anglers went up north lake others mid and south lake. As
they finally arrived at the weigh-in it was clear that something new was about to happen.

Keith Phillips and son Chandler scooted their Bass Cat/Mercury rig up Kickapoo creek hunting for the one that would help win this tourney. Using a Shamino reel they tossed green with blue stripe crankbaits into shallow waters. One very hungry bass hit Chandlers bait and after it came in he was ready for the weigh-in.

Now when Chandler got to the weigh-in all could see that his fish was almost twice the size of all the others so when it weighed in at 4.14 lbs he knew he had a winner. Now the surprising part of this is that
Chandler is only 8 Yrs old, yes guys and gals only 8 yrs. so beware we have a champion in the making here. For his great catch he received $190 and set a record as the youngest angler to take 1st place at the Kickapoo Tackle Thursday night tournament.

Next we go up north lake with Rodney Ward as he motors his Ranger/Yamaha rig around shallow water throwing worms with his Castaway rod he finds a nice 2.69 lb bass that wins him 2nd place and $114 for his efforts.

Rounding out the top winners are Larry Jenkins with 2.59 lbs giving him $76 and Gene Swann with a close 2.48 lb bass winning a 1/2 off certificate to the next Anglers Quest tournament.
