Fishers of Men East Texas Division Second Tournament
By Patty Lenderman

The second tournament of the East Texas Division of Fishers of Men was held on Toledo Bend. San Miguel State Park hosted the event, with excellent facilities.

Friday night meal and fellowship was held in the enclosed pavilion. Wanda Wright and her mom Billie Adams made some down home, Louisana gumbo. Jeane Logan and Alpha Shine furnished the (go along with it) stuff. Much thanks to all their hard work. Al Odom, the National Director brought the Word to us in a way that touched all the anglers hearts. His topic was TRUTH. 4 anglers made a First Time Profession of Faith, and another 15 re-dedicated their live to Christ.

43 teams, in order, took off at safe light and the weather was good. Light wind and overcast skies were the order of the morning. Later on in the day, the wind picked up a little, but never became a real issue for the anglers. The skies stayed overcast almost all day, and most of the anglers that were catching fish, held their patterns without change.

Chad Koonce and partner Greg Byrley brought 5 bass to the scales that weighed 23.26 pounds. In their bag of fish was the big bass of the tournament weighing 8.34 pounds. Their total earnings, including the Bonus Bucks was $1665.00. They said that they had caught most of their fish on spinner baits and slug-o's. Second Big Bass was won by James Allen and Ken Pellerin. Their bass weighed 7.85 pounds, for a check of $172.00. 2nd place of the tournament went to Gary Baker and Jason Dew with a weight of 19.13 pounds. They took home winnings of $809.80. 3rd place was Marvin Courtney and Ryan Largent. They won $631.60 with their 5 fish that weighed 18.34 pounds. 4th place winners were the team of Perry Curry and Charles Michalak. They weighed in 5 fish that scaled out at 18.28 pounds for a check for $412.80. 5th place went to William Sadler and Earl Kersh. Their weight was 14.94 pounds and they won $309.60. 6th place was won by Steve Rhea and Louis Rouleau. Their weight was 13.47. Their check was for $240.80, but more importantly, they took over the Points Champion Leaders. 7th place was Roy Gilmore and partner Grant Peterson. They weighed 5 fish, weighing 12.92 pounds and received a check for $206.40. The last team in the money, 8th place went to the team of Tommy Rascoe and Alton Powell. Their weight was 12.42 pounds and received a check for $172.00

Next months tournament will be held on Lake Sam Rayburn. The host church will be The Trinity Episcopal Church in Jasper, Texas. The pre-tournament information can be located on the www.fomntt.com.
