Bass N Bucks makes hit on Lake Livingston
By Bill Webb

Bass N Bucks Team Tournament drew a big crowd, but weights were unusually low for Lake Livingston. With 240 teamed anglers fishing the waters of Lake Livingston one would expect weights of near or above 20lbs at the weigh-in, but with the winds at 15-20mph the bass were very scattered and the bite was light.Onalaska locals Carl Bolton and Bobby Perkins did find enough fish to make the day count. When weighing in their fish early they were told that their 14.59lb stringer was 1st place at that time, but everyone including themselves assumed that the weight would be beat by many other anglers. How wrong they were and as Bobby said" how sweet it is " to win a top quality tournament like this early in the year. He also stated that they culled at least 15 fish mostly using zoom worms. They fished south of the bridge and when pressed for a better location all he gave was "well we were in Polk county".That was enough to bring them in 1st place and put a "cool" $4,000 in his and partner Carl Bolton pocket, congradulations guys job well done,it is 'bout time. The 2nd place was taken by anglers Howard and John Thorton with a close weight of 14.38lbs only a little over 2/10's of a pound out of 1st, but they hauled in a nice $2,000 for the day.

The other local who placed in the top 5 was Todd Castledine and Scott David who with a small limit of 13.35lbs took home $1,100 for the afternoon. The big bass of the tournament was 5.76 lbs going to Len Adcock and Terry Watson who also came in 4th place which brought their total winning to $2,460.With 285 fish caught at a total of 592.85lbs the average fish weighed in was 2.85lbs, not a bad average.

David Concienne, tournament director told all that on paper, the Livingston tournament last year was the best one that they had especially considering the number of limits of fish.He also promised to come back next year and may have some new added surprises for the Livingston tournament. The next Bass-N-Bucks tournament will be held at Toledo Bend on June 6.For more info on this, as well as other Bass-N-Bucks events contact David Concienne at (409)-727-8941.
