Peek & Peek take Angler Choice
Anglers Choice Staff

Prefront winds and overcast skies greeted the 89 Amateur teams, who launched from Frontier Park Marina on Saturday, February 20, to compete in the Amateur series of the Anglers Choice circuit. But as weigh-in time neared its collective moments, the 178 anglers were to have first hand knowledge of changing weather patterns, as prefront warmth quickly shifted to postfront "chill."

Even though the winds shifted to arctic northerlies and the rains chilled to the bone, the teamed anglers were in good spirits as they would weigh-in with 309 bass.

First place position went to father and son team, Robin and Joshua Peek, as the Leesville LA duo put a 5 bass/17.37 lb. catch on the scale. They flipped the bushes with crawfish colored jigs w/blue pork trailers for their winning catch.

Second place finishers, Clint Goodeaux of Westlake LA, and David Kober of Lake Charles LA, managed to weigh a 5 bass/17.00 lb. catch by using 3/4 oz. white/chartreuce spinner baits w/gold willows.

Third place posistion went to Zwollie LA, anglers, Curtis Fisette and Scotty Reynolds, as they worked carolina rigged Zoom lizards to catch their weigh-in of 5 bass/16.74 lbs.

Tournament "overall" big bass came in with Robin & Joshua Peek for their 7.0 "kicker".

All Bass were live released via the Shimano/SRA-LA fish recovery Krewe with 309 bass weighing 677 lbs.

The next Amateur event will be held at Richland Chambers on March 14. For more information on this, as well as other Anglers Choice circuits contact Randy Knight at 409-694-7634.
