Wesley Gallier and Donnie Young of Beaumont took first place honors and $1500 for their efforts in the 13th annual Ford Credit Big Bass Tournament. Sixty teams launched out of Jackson Hill Park at safe light and found the fishing tough over all as the winners weighed in a 12.34 pound stringer.

The second place team of Wade White collecting and Clyde Sonnier landed 11.63 pounds $800 and the third place team of Joe Griggs and Buch Hollis handled 11.11 pounds which brought a pay check for $500. The fourth place team of Donnie Morgan and Larry Stumps earned $250 with 10.69 pounds, Fifth place got $150 for the team of Kevin Fellows and Jerry Willis who weighed in 10.10 pounds and the sixth place team of Michael and Susan Andrus took home $100 for their 9.80 stringer.

The big bass of the day earned Jasper resident Bobby Glover a $1000 check. Bobby indicated as he approched the scales that they only had one fish, "but its a good one".
Ford Credit really put on a great family oriented tournament with the prizes being first class and the Saturday activities fun for all who attended. Texas Charlie's Restaurant of Jasper provided a fish fry for the guests and games and activities were enjoyed by all. The marina provided a tent and tables for the dinner, and hosted the tournament activities. Big Sams's Tackle of Jasper and the Fishers of Men weigh crew led by Doyle Tibbitts conducted the weigh in and launch.
