The Dallas Bass Hooker Bass Club took the Club championship and anchored the Texas teams to victory over visiting Clubs from Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas in the Quad State Team tournament on Sam Rayburn April 17th and 18th.

The team of Raymond Hicks and Darrell Hicks led the way with a total weight of 21.96 for the two day event. While placeing first overall they also had the second place big bass on Saturday and Big Bass overall on Sunday with a 6.75 lunker. " We used a Carolina Rigged Chartreuse Zoom Lizard to land the big one at 12:00." stated Darrell Hicks. They said they were in the Harvey Creek area for both days. Local angler and Dentist Coolridge Coleman with partner and Dentist Dr. John Echols of Port Arthur took second place honors with 16.33 pounds for the two days. John Tate and Doug Downey came in third, followed by 4th place team of Dan thomas and Dewayne Lane, 5th was Herman Cook and Robert Smith and 6th place went to Terry Boyd and Oris Johnson.

Seventy teams battled the wind on Saturday and found the diminished winds on Sunday a welcome relief. The first place team of the Hicks family took home $367 for their 2nd place big bass, $735 for their big bass and $2196 for first place. The next Quade state tournament will be held in Arkansas and the teams from Arkansas left early, but left a challenge that they would be ready to take the plaque back in Arkansas.

A highlight of the weigh in was when President Thomas Campbell presented $610 back to the community. 'We always try to return some to the community that we are in." said Campbell. this time "We will present it to the children of this area." The award was donated to The Lone Star Youth Council, Inc.
