Anglers Choice East Texas Team- Central Division Circuit
Sunday, July 18, 1999, Frontier Park Marina, Lake Toledo Bend, TX.

"We expected to find our bass suspended today, stated the team which had just weighed-in the winning stringer for the Anglers Choice East TX Team event, "but we found them hugging the bottom instead, "so we went to work on them with a newly designed Strike King "Premier Elite" jig and managed to catch 13 bass, from which we culled our winning weight from.

An organization rich in history, Anglers Choice held its first team/event in 1988 at Lake Brownwood TX, where Rick Helmcamp and Gene Lathrop became the first winners of a leaderboard listing which would span 12 years. "Now, after growth & developement established Anglers Choice as a multiple facet tournament format organization, complete with Pro/Am's, Couples, Draws, Celebrity Bass Events, Super Teams, and Amateur Teams, which have spread from local, to regional, to By-State, and now to National interests which involve Central, Western, and Eastern tournament divisions, the Anglers Choice circuit can be very proud of its achievements as its twelve year "tour de force' has awarded 241 "fully rigged" bass boats of $5, 500,000 value, paid out $200,000 in Championship awards, and another $9, 347, 000 in tournament pay-backs for a grand total of $14.8 "MILLION". "An Amazing thing, stated Anglers Choice CEO, Johnnie Davis, "when you consider that our support came solely from the fishing industry.

"Now, with "another" 3:pm weigh-in nearing its collective moments, East Tx Team director, Randy Knight was about to digitize another chapter in Anglers Choice History as more bass-checks were to be paid out to those who enjoyed fishing competitive events

"Browning rods and Quantum reels spooled with 25# Stren helped to catch our weight today, informed Mike Murski of Dallas TX, as he told of how he, and fellow Dallas native, Phillip Marks, managed to run their Skeeter/Yamaha-(despite spun-hub repairs)- down to the southlake area where they fished 11'-15' Texas Island mid-grass. "The key to our success for winning this event, Murski further explained, was our newly developed 1 oz "Premier-Elite" jig which we fished with a Larew pumpkin/green craw. "This jig isn't on the market as yet, Mike continued, "but for those who'd like to find out more about it, they can call 1-800-467-5873. The Murski/Marks team managed to take the $1,340 1st place bass-check with a 5 bass/17.89 lb catch.

"Northlake outside grass-edges, stated the Boots Folmar Marine Pro, as he "splained" how he and team partner, Harold Stalcup of Hemphill TX, managed to run Stalcup's Champion/Mariner up-lake to fish Shimano/Kistler rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15# Triple Fish. "We mainly worked 1/2 oz grass-rigs with Zoom watermelon/red and Larew plum 10" worms around 10'-12' grass, informed Mike Cortelloni of Many LA, as he told of how they caught up to 20 bass today, with a 7.14 lb "kicker" hitting Cortelloni's 5th cast of the morning. "We had our limit by 10:am, Mike furthered informed, but we had to struggle through the rest of the day with a one bite per hour pattern. The Cortelloni/Stalcup team put a 5 bass/17.41 lb weight on the scale for a 2nd place $670 payday as well as the "overall" big bass check for $240.

"Zoom 10" worms and Six Mile grass, stated Durant OK, angler, Edwin Evers, as he further informed that he, and Matt Reed of Madisonville TX, ran Matt's Ranger/Mercury bass-rig to southlake outside grass edges to fish Shimano rods & reels spooled with 50# Classic braid. "We mainly stuck 15'-16' grass with redbug worms, Edwin informed, adding that they had a late bite from a 1:pm to 3:pm pattern for catching 12 bass that culled to a 5 bass/16.69 lb 3rd place finish and a $575 bass-check. "We left them biting, stated Evers!"
