By Ed Snyder

Anglers Choice East Texas Amateur Team Series Championship
Sunday, September 19, 1999, Twin Dikes Marina, Lake Sam Rayburn, TX.

"We kept ot our 1st day pattern of working plum wacky worms down a 16' ledge, stated the team which had weighed-in a 5 bass/11.74 lb 2nd day catch, "But, the bite was a lot slower today, the duo added as they had just bested the championship field of 40 teams by over 6 lbs with their final tally of 10 bass/30.57 lbs to win the 1999 Team Championship of the Anglers Choice East Texas Amateur Team Circuit.

Indian Summer held for final day competition as light north winds, dropping lake levels, and blue-bird bassitudes provide small weights and minimum limits for the tournament. As the final tallies were logged and filed by Anglers Choice weigh-in coordinator, Kim Greer, the tournament sheets showed light marks for the two day tournament with a total of 287 bass being caught weighing an "Un-Rayburn Like" 603 lbs.

Tournament ReCap;

(Day One)-
The team of Vince Neal & Harold Moore managed to catch a first day lead of 5 bass/18.83 lbs by fishing carolina rigged plum Wacky worms down a southlake 12'-20' ridgeline dropoff which had a 16' ledge to take a first day lead. Big bass of the day came in with the 2nd place team of Larry Plunk & Rick Edwards as they weighed-in a southlake scattered grass catch of 5 bass/17.08 lbs from Texas rigged smoke/orange/green worms that put a Rick Edwards 5.92 lb noon/bite on the scale for day one big bass.

(Day Two)-
"We stayed with our 1st day pattern, stated Vince Neal & Harold Moore, as they explained that they seemed to do better when the winds were up. "We kept our Triton/OMC bass boat navigating along the edges of a southlake ridgeline, they informed, adding that they fished Allstar rods and Shimano reels spooled with Trilene BG-20# mono as they dragged their baits off the edges of a 12' to 20' dropoff down to a 16' ledge which was holding their bass. "But it was a real struggle today, they explained as they further informed of catching fewer keepers for their final sack of 5 bass/11.74 lbs which gave them a total of 10 bass/30.57 lbs and the Championship check for $6,000.

"We decided to hold fast today instead of run & gunning like yesterday, stated Donnie & Juanita Robinson who had just weighed-in a 5 bass/18.15 lb sack, giving them a total of 8 bass/24.75 lbs. The Carter Cycle Marine Team of Huntsville TX, managed to work American Rod Smith rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15# Maxima while fishing Tx rigged 7" red-shad and red-bug culprit worms along 5'-10' southlake scattered grass to catch the $4,000 2nd place check. Juanita would also claim the tournament overall big bass of 6.91 lbs from a 7:am bite that put another $240 in their tackle pack.

"Skeeter/Yamaha got us there, and Tx rigged 7" red-bug Zoom worms put the bass in our well, stated David Katcher & Mary Jane Granger, as they informed of working Castaway/Allstar rods and Shimano/Garcia reels spooled with 15# & 20# Triple-Fish line. "We fished 10'-12' mid-lake grass-mats both days, they explained, adding that they caught 24 to 25 bass yesterday by 1:30/pm and caught another 25 bass today by 2:pm for culling their 2 day catch of 10 bass/23.34 lbs.
