By Ed Snyder

Bass Champions Team Trail- Texas Division-(01)-
Saturday, September 4, 1999, MillCreek Park, TX.

"We ran our Allison to Northlake creek edges, answered the team which had just won the Labor Day Bass Champions Team event on lake Sam Rayburn, adding that they managed to catch at least 20 keepers from which to cull their 5 bass tournament limit from.

In this final 1999 event for the Bass Champions Team Trail circuit- division 01-, 28 anglers teamed up to compete on Lake Sam Rayburn for a 5 bass limit that would etch their names to the winning slots of the leaderboard. With previous weather patterns providing "HOT" triple-digit dog-day conditions, todays event would arrive under re-conditioned weather patterns as tropical rains deluged and slightly cooler temps dominated to re-set the bass-i-tudes. Plenty of bass action was to be had by most anglers with no problem, but the bigger "kicker" bass would remain elusive to their final efforts.

"Northlake 3' creek channel edges, stated Bobby Parrish and Don Randall of Nacogdoches Tx, "we ran our Allison/Johnson bass-rig up-lake to work Allstar rods and Ambassadeur reels spooled with Berkely BG-20# mono, they informed as they told of fishing tx rigged 7" black/blue ringworms along 3' creek-edges for an 8:am to 10:am prime bite. The Nacogdoches Duo teamed up to cull a 5 bass/13.70 lb weight from a 20 bass catch for their 1st place win.

"ProCraft/Mercury was our rig, stated Kennith Brown of Huffman Tx, and Bob Fowler of Hemphill Tx, as they informed of fishing Castaway rods and Shimano reels spooled with Berkely BG-20# mono. "We used gourd/green Zoom finesse worms rigged carolina style, they further informed as they told of working Needmore Point and Tiger creek 25' drop-offs to catch 29 keeper bass that would cull to a 5 bass/11.80 weight for 2nd place.

"Veach Basin hydrilla in 9'-15' water, explained Stacy and Harvy Sharp of Spring Tx, as they informed of how they caught their 5 bass/10.40 lb 3rd place finish. The teamed brothers also managed to land the "overall" big bass of the tournament as Stacy stuck a 9:am bite on a carolina rigged Zoom watermelon lizard to catch a 4.85 lb bass.
