Versatility Earns Female Team Toledo Win
By Jim Franklin/Lakecaster

Bassin Her Style Women's Team Circuit-
September 18, 19, 1999, Frontier Park Marina, Toledo Bend Lake, TX.

"We've been blessed and would like to thank God, stated Sherrie Brubaker, as she informed of her, and team partner, Sherrie Glasco's troublesome win at the Toledo Bend Bassin' Her Style tournament.

Limiting their first day fishing time to just one hour, the Brubaker/Glasco team experiencing boat problems, still managed to catch a 5 bass/13.54 lb first day lead. Running their Champion/Mercury bass-rig back to their grassy southlake grassy honey-hole on the final day, the teamed lady anglers began fishing Allstar rods and Shimano reels spooled with Trilene mono, as they worked 15'-to-30' grass with an array of baits. "We fished everything from Oldham jigs to Carolina/Tx rigged worms to spinner baits, explained the Veteran women anglers, adding that they managed to scrape together a 5 bass/9.59 lb limit for a 10 bass/23.16 lb finish that would be enough to win this tournament event.

"We left our saturday spot to save some fish for today, stated 2nd place team, Sue Crochet and Barbara Williams, explaining how they managed to take the runner-up position. The 2nd place team maneuvered their Skeeter/Yamaha bass boat to southlake grass-patches where they fished Falcon/Allstar rods and Shimano/Garcia reels spooled with Berkely mono. "We pitched 12'-to-15' grass with Yamamoto black/blue & red-bug craw-worms, stated the Crochet/Williams team, adding that they managed to put together a 10 bass/22.10 lb weight for their 2nd place finish.

"Pitching Cylone camo jigs and red-bug Toledo Ticklers, informed the 3rd place team of Chione Jackson and Cynthia Farrell. The Jackson/Farrell team managed to move up from 5th to 3rd with the help of the "overall" tournament kicker of 4.25 lbs. "We ran our Triton/Evinrude bass-rig to Housen Bay scattered grass, they explained, adding that they worked Shimano rods & reels to put together a 2 day total of 15.68 lbs to take their 3rd place finish.

In this inaugural season of the Anglers Choice affiliated, Bassin' Her Style women's bass circuit, the lady anglers were to fish high pressure blue-birds and "choppy" north winds to catch a two day weigh-in that would rival the weights of the male circuits which were operating on Toledo at the same time.
