-109 Teams Compete in 1st customer appreciation event-

Rayburn Tackle's 1st Annual Customer Appreciation Team BassTournament

Sunday, October 17, 1999, Twin Dikes Marina, Lake Sam Rayburn, TX.

"We fished Wacky's, Spittin' Images, and RedFins around northlake structure, stated the team who had just digitized a 5 bass/15.49 lb first place win at the 1st Annual Rayburn Tackle Customer Appreciation Team Bass Tournament. The winning team competed against 218 other anglers to capture the #1 spot.

With 109 teams dodging the "proverbial weather bullet" from a predicted cold front that was barreling down the pike, the anglers managed to launch into pre-front conditions as the coldfront "stalled", allowing for much more weather friendly conditions. Partly cloudy skys and light north winds merged to provide an almost purr-fect day of fishin' for most anglers as they flipped, cranked, and "wackied" their bassin' patterns to hopefully collect a good 5 bass tournament limit for their 3:pm weigh-in. And as Tournament Director, Bob Sealy, of Sealy Outdoors, prepared to weigh the incoming catches, the tournament would tally up 180 bass weighing 450 lbs.

1st place- Our ProCraft/Mariner bass rig got us there, stated Ed Punice and Gene Holyfield as they informed about their fishing. "We worked Allstar rods & Shimano/Quantum reels spooled with 15# Berkley mono, they explained, adding that they fished with RedFins, Spittin' Image Jr's, and Zoom wacky worms around northlake structure to catch their 1st place win of 5 bass/15.49 lbs.

2nd place- "Kingfisher/Johnson bass-rig, informed Tim Steven and Tony Stewart as they told of fishing Allstar rods and Shimano reels spooled with 15# Berkely mono for catching their 5 bass/15.40 lb 2nd place stringer while fishing mid-lake topwaters.

3rd place- "White spinner baits, red bloodline worms, and ring rascals, answered Dean Wood and Tony Cormier, further informing that they ran their Skeeter/Mariner bass-rig to southlake structure while fishing an early bite with Allstar/Castaway/G-Loomis rods and Shimano reels for catching their 3rd place weight of 5 bass/13.89 lbs.

"Overall Big Bass"- "we caught it on a black Bionic Blade buzz-bait, informed Paul Engle and Travis Young as they told of how Travis caught and landed the 7.01 lb lunker that held for the big bass award from an 11:30am bite.
