Birds of Newton County

Newton County is located in the Big Thicket of Deep East Texas. Normal rainfall is among the highest in Texas. The county is heavily forested with the Sabine River on the east and Toledo Bend Reservoir on the north. Over 220 species of birds call Newton County home at some time during the year. The main birding times are spring migration through early smmer and in the winter.
