Pineland and Hemphill are each home
for
outstanding city parks and public libraries.
Pineland's Katherine Sage Temple Park
is located on Maple St. in a quiet setting among the beautiful pines in
the western part of the city. The park has baseball diamonds used by the
youth baseball teams, public tennis courts, basketball court, pavilion,
amphitheater stage, a children's playground, an ample number of picnic
tables and facilities, and a swimming pool open during summer months.
In Hemphill, the Dr. Don G. Mann Memorial
Park is situated on FM 944, just east of its Texas 87 intersection.
The park has a popular walking track utilized by area citizens on a daily
basis. Also located at the park is picnic tables and facilities; tennis
courts, basketball court, and a pavilion.
Sabine County is home to two outstanding libraries:
J.R. Huffman Public Library on Hwy.
87 in Hemphill is a modern library with a variety of resources and books
available to accommodate most all patrons. The library also has a theater
which is available to groups for public presentations. For information

Arthur Temple Sr. Memorial Library
has been open on FM 83 in Pineland since 1969. The library has recently
underwent major renovation and expansion projects. This library also has
the spacious Payne Meeting Room available to the public for meetings,
presentations, etc. This library may be reached by phone at 584-2546.
